Hampstead Middle School Chorus Philosophy
“Of all the creative arts, singing affords a uniquely, universal expression. The vocal instrument is one’s own body, the musical sound being sculpted from the breath. Choral singing creates sonorities of astonishing beauty, musical palettes that can inspire, soothe and delight. Choruses at Hampstead Middle School
Grade Five and Six Chorus
The Hampstead Middle School beginning choruses are made up of fifth and sixth grade students who choose to meet once a week. They perform a winter and spring concert and have the option of performing at various events and assemblies. Some of these events include performing for a Veteran’s Day observance, caroling at the Rockingham Nursing Home and singing the National Anthem at a Manchester Monach’s game. Seventh and Eighth Grade Chorus
The most advanced of the choral groups at Hampstead Middle School, the seventh and eighth grade choruses meet every day during a unified arts block as a grade-level ensemble. The group performs at the winter and spring concerts as well as the Great East Festival and possibly the NHMEA Large Group Festival. Please see the performance schedule for specific dates and times.
Select Chorus
The award winning select chorus at Hampstead Middle School is an audition-only group that rehearses once a week after school. Open to musicians in sixth through eighth grade, the chorus members perform at all Hampstead Middle School concerts as well as festivals throughout New Hampshire. All select chorus members must be enrolled as a member of the Hampstead Middle School choral program. Auditions are held in June each year and student numbers are limited in this group.
